After much speculation about a sugary-based title, the upcoming Madonna album has officially been named Hard Candy. It comes as no surprise when looking at the photos from the listening party for record executives held by Madonna months ago. Along with the announcement, a brief word from Madonna’s representative gives us some insight into the title’s rather deep meaning:
“It’s about the juxtaposition of tough and sweetness, or as Madonna so eloquently expressed ‘I’m gonna kick your ass, but it’s going to make you feel good.'”
The article found at Entertainment Weekly goes on to explain that the Timbalame-produced first single, “Four Minutes” (I guess they shortened the title, making it all the less attractive) will be out by the end of March. The album will follow for an April 29 release date.
The plus side to this? New Madonna. The down side? Madonna in the New Age.
But please note, this is her final album with Warner Bros. Records. She’s moving on to her new label, Live Nation, after its release. What remains to be seen is if the words “contractual agreement” will filter into Madonna’s final effort.
