Cheryl Cole: The Flood (Video Premiere)

BRINGIN’ ON THE FLAAAAAAAUUUUHHHHHD.

Oi oi…it’s Cheryl Cole‘s new video for the second single off of Messy Little Raindrops, “The Flood.” (WATCH)

Within the ex-Aloud superstar’s devastating mini-epic, Cole employs classic cinematography techniques as a way of visually harnessing the complex emotions surrounding the tortured artist’s deep, waterlogged sorrow–the most obvious of which of course being Soviet montage theory, utilizing several recurring images as a way of conveying grief through symbolism rather than direct visual narrative (as popularized in Sergei Eisenstein‘s The Battleship Potemkin).

LOLOL J/K–CHEZZA’S A MERMAID, Y’ALL.

Or a lighthouse widow or something.

“The Flood” will be released on January 3. (iTunes UK)
