Genre: Urban pop, electro R&B
Sounds like: Dev, Christina Millian, Cassie
Meet Tinashe, the former lead singer of the short-lived girl group, The Stunners.
Following the disbanding of her former girl group, the talented 18-year-old pop starlet is currently in the midst of moving forward as a solo artist. This week, the first song from her forthcoming solo sessions leaked…and it is absolutely IMMENSE.
“Chainsaw” was produced by The Cataracs, the urban-pop production duo responsible for such international smashes as the Far East Movement‘s “Like A G6” and Dev‘s unstoppable “Bass Down Low.”
Accordingly, “Chainsaw” plays like the sex-starved sibling to “Bass Down Low,” as Tinashe’s vocals bounce against marching drums, whining, grinding synthesizers–and of course, a deliciously thick bass. “I’m getting sweaty, sweaty / Come help me get rid of this shirt / I’ll make you whistle while you work,” the pop starlet moans before the gritty, slapping beat comes grinding back into the speakers.
Give this track just one listen: I guarantee it’ll have you buzzin’, bu-buzzin’ like a chainsaw all day.
Tinashe’s debut album will be released later this year on Universal Republic. (Official Website)
