I hope everyone had a merry Record Store Day this weekend!
As is tradition for the past few years now, I rolled out of bed early Saturday morning, threw on a pair of pants at some point, and immediately drove to my nearest record shop to begin prowling for the Record Store Day exclusives I’ve been drooling over, including the Lana Del Rey “Born To Die” 7″, the Garbage “Blood For Poppies” 7″ and the Tegan & Sara‘s Get Along live LP. Then I drove to another shop a little further away. Then I drove to another shop a little further away. And then I found myself somewhere near Massachusetts. I even bought Katy Perry‘s “Part of Me” on vinyl at some point. Shit got weird.
Anyway, to commemorate the holiday across the pond, disco-pop damsel Little Boots released her sensational House record “Every Night I Say A Prayer” as a limited 12″ vinyl in the UK. Then she gave away a free download of the Tensnake remix on Friday. Now, she’s giving away the original version of the song for free. So giving!
“Every Night,” which was co-crafted alongside Hercules & Love Affair‘s Andy Butler tip-toes in between warm washes of ’90’s club pulsations, weird ambient noises bubbling in the background and a gorgeous piano melody. “I wanna walk beside you, I gotta keep the faith,” she sings before unleashing a seductive croon.
Watch out for the delicious PWL-era Kylie stuttering breakdowns after the two minute mark as well: “I-I-I know where we’re going!” It’s like stepping back in time, Rhythm of Love style!
Quite a disco treat. Grab it now!
“Every Night I Say A Prayer” was released on April 21. (iTunes UK)
