DJ, Make Me Wet: Janet Jackson’s “Throb” Gets Re-Rubbed for 2013

Here we go, here we go, here we go now.

Of all her sweat-inducing uptempo jams, “Throb” is one of Janet Jackson‘s most sizzling–and certainly one of the most sexually explicit. (“DJ, make me wet…“) It’s also one of my very, very favorites from Miss Jackson.

The filthy-minded club cut was originally featured on 1993’s iconic janet. and, despite not being properly released as a single (the song was only serviced to radios), “Throb” still managed to climb to #66 on the Hot 100, as well as #2 on the Hot Dance Club Play charts in 1994 (largely due to the David Morales mixes.)

Fast forward to 2013, and the banger’s been dealt a heavy House makeover by the prolific Peter Rauhofer, converting the horn-happy original into a bug-eyed, Ecstasy-addled 4 AM circuit party raver. The moans, coos and naughty commands sound crystal clear above the dark pulsations, and the new flourishes of production–including those stinging chords 5 minutes into the track–give the track a whole new, nasty feel.

Nothing could ever touch the original, but this re-rub one ought to have enough unffff to make you burst. Get busy.

janet. was released in 1993. (iTunes)
