Cue the OMFG #DYING REBLOG!1!!! hysteria from Harmonizers and Directioners alike.
They’ve already snatched many a wig with their cover of Lana Del Rey‘s “American” a few weeks ago. Before that, it was Frank Ocean‘s “Thinkin ‘Bout You.” And most recently, they delivered a killer rendition of Ed Sheeran‘s “Lego House.”
Now, X Factor USA‘s reigning girl group Fifth Harmony has gone straight for their teenybopper base’s Achilles’ heel: A One Direction cover.
Once again, the lovely ladies put their breezy, melodic spin on the track at hand, layering their mature-beyond-their-years vocals across 1D’s Take Me Home power bottom ballad and turning the tune into something much more soulful than their loveably doofy male counterparts’ original — even tossing in a tiny tease of Beyonce‘s “Party” at the very end. (Can we hear that one as well, girls?)
Queen Camila shines as per usual as the band’s unofficial lead, although Lauren (black leather jacket, if you’re not familiar on an individual basis just yet) sounds absolutely amazing during her bits. They all do, really. The harmonies are getting better with every cover. I mean, that perfectly rehearsed harmonized countdown into the song alone? These girls are polished and ready to go. Simon, you done good.
Bring on the Fifth Harmonslaying!
