Annie‘s got your cure for that suh-suh-summertime sadness.
After premiering her objectively flaw-free A&R EP with Richard X last month, the Norwegian Queen of Pop’s just done us all a solid and released the “Summer Version” of “Back Together,” included on the limited edition 12″ vinyl edition of the mini-collection.
The lush re-rub of the track replaces the song’s early ’90’s club strut and glitchy, 16-bit Sonic The Hedgehog-sounding production with a vastly dreamier vibe — sort of like her “Anthonio” B-side “Ferret Summer” — floating across dreamy synths and warm, funky ’70’s disco guitar strums that’d fit in quite nicely with Daft Punk‘s latest effort. It’s right on par with the original — in fact, I might even prefer it.
Grab an alcoholic coconut beverage and a folding chair and get thee to a beach. Summer’s not over yet — certainly not until Annie says so.
‘The A&R EP’ was released on July 29. (iTunes)
