Donna Summer: A name that needs no formal introduction.
To honor the iconic disco diva’s eternal legacy on the dance floor, Verve Records is releasing an extensive remix collection called Love To Love You Donna next week (October 22), featuring brand new remixes of some of Queen Donna’s most iconic hits by modern electronic maestros like Afrojack, Holy Ghost, Hot Chip — even the “I Feel Love” titan himself, Giorgio Moroder.
Today, I’m happy to premiere a remix of “MacArthur Park” — one of my all-time favorite Donna Summer songs — by Laidback Luke.
The slamming EDM reinterpretation of the track adds a heavy House heartbeat to the track, full of pounding, four-to-the-floor synthesizers and big beat breakdowns. Nothing will ever touch Donna’s immaculate original of course, but this is a solid way of introducing new ears to the disco diva’s iconic vocals in 2013.
