Miley Cyrus — oh, perhaps you’ve heard of her? — has done a thing worth talking about.
After lighting up the stage (quite literally) at the MTV EMA’s earlier this week, the Bangerz belter hit up BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge to put her twerk-less spin on Saint Lana Del Rey‘s “Summertime Sadness.” (We probably should have all seen this coming a few days ago when she posted that “Showertime Sadness” selfie.)
While nothing could possibly touch Lana’s sweet, sad croonage, the Southern belle’s twangy voice works quite nicely for the summertime Top 10 anthem. The cover showcases the more reserved side of Mileybird, like Bangerz‘ “Adore You,” or that cover of “Lilac Wine” she did during The Backyard Sessions. This is lovely — and refreshing. Who needs the shock shtick when she’s got the capability to deliver like this?
Oh, that Miley. Always keeping you guessing! She’s a female rebel — can’t you tell?
‘Bangerz’ was released on October 8. (iTunes)
