So, the K-Pop girl group scene does things just a bit differently than their Western contemporaries.
For instance, they’ve got something called sub-units, which is when a few key members of the group split off from the main unit and do their own thing for a release. For instance, it’d be like if Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex separated briefly from Danity Kane and…oh, wait.
The ladies of Girls’ Generation have a sub-unit called TaeTiSeo, made up members of Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun.
In 2012, the trio released their debut mini-album Twinkle, which went on to become the year’s 8th best selling album in South Korea and highest-charting album ever for a Korean act on iTunes (until 2NE1‘s Crush) — not too shabby.
Now, the girls are at it again a second mini-album called Holler, due out on September 16.
Ahead of the release, the girls have teased a pre-release track from the collection: “Whisper,” a smooth ‘n sexy electro-R&B midtempo jam. The slinky cut is full of chill, feel-good vibez and tender coos — a refreshing alternative to the occasionally overwhelming (but no less amazing) sensory overload of their main group’s biggest jams, like “I Got A Boy.”
Me gusta mucho. Are TaeTiSeo’s sweet sounds working you into a tizzy?
‘Holler’ will be release on September 16. (iTunes)
