Let’s get one thing straight (well, pretty gay actually): If you’re the type of person who thinks it is (A) abhorrent, (B) shocking or (C) brand new information that Mariah Carey‘s #1 To Infinity album art is Photostopped to oil painting proportions, you’re just not my kind of people. This is what Mimi’s been serving the Lambily since 2005, y’all. Fabulous fantasy retro moments of gypsy whatever! You either get it or you don’t. And I can’t do anything for you if you don’t. So, sorry.
With that out of the way, there’s the small matter of “Infinity,” the sole new song and lead single from her upcoming greatest hits compilation, due out on Monday (April 27). Early reviewers have already raved for what sounds like a true return to pop radio form for the Elusive Chanteuse, and the next few weeks — including her grand arrival in Las Vegas, dahhling — are going to be huge for the legendary diva.
Today, the “Triumphant (Get ‘Em) (Pulse Remix)” singer unveiled the cover art for the new single — and it’s really, really cute ‘n’ classic, beautiful Mariah. (Also, I still really can’t get over the Infinity sign butterfly logo for this new era. Perfect.)
All the stars seem to be aligning: While Me. I Am Mariah remains an underrated gem, will this be Mimi’s most well-executed reemergence on Top 40 radio since Emancipation? To infinity and beyond!
“Infinity” will be released on April 27. (iTunes)
