The LOOΠΔverse is expanding – and it’s getting way gayer.
As of Thursday (December 28), we now have Chuu – the adorable tenth member of LOOΠΔ, the still-yet-to-debut South Korean girl group that has unveiled each one of its twelve members individually over the past year and a half. (Catch up with them all, if you’re not already on this crazy ride.)
With Chuu’s “Heart Attack,” one thing’s for sure: she’s got a major crush on the previous girl-of-the-month, “New” crooner Yves. And don’t we all, really?
No, but actually: Blockberry Creative’s leaning in hard on the LGBTQ narrative with this latest LOOΠΔ sub-unit – and it’s not even subtle. Whereas Yves and Vivi seemed to have a little something going on in the video for self-discovery anthem “New,” Chuu is full-on, flat-out infatuated with Yves in the pulse-raising “Heart Attack” – playing photographer to get closer to her crush, listening to Yves’ song on her phone, and casually-and-not-at-all-creepily standing outside her window in the snow just to stare. (Relatable.) Oh, and that forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden is back! We love symbolism.
We’ve also got another reliably insane description from Blockberry to dig into:
“The new single lets the fans take a peek into what JiWoo, who has already been a popular trainee among fans, had to go through to become ‘Chuu’, and her desire to be loved by Yves, who also has said in her lyrics, ‘my heart that wants to be like you gets colored, filled with you.’ The title track ‘Heart Attack’ does not interpret the feelings of being in love in a serious way, but with Chuu’s own adorable emoticon-like ways. The music video has references to historical and fictional figures such as the artist Rene Magritte, Hans Christian Andersen’s short story ‘The Little Match Girl,’ and John Appleby’s novel Aphrodite Means Death. The supporting track ‘Girl’s Talk’ is a duet by Chuu and Yves, a rendition of a daily dialogue between two girls. Sweet but sometimes secretive, the precious chats between the girls get reinterpreted to become a song. G-High of Monotree, who has produced HeeJin’s ‘ViViD’ and LOOΠΔ / ODD EYE CIRCLE’s ‘Uncover.’ crafts the track to perfection to prove the quality. When four girls who denied the garden of Eden gathers, the party begins.”
A Belgian surrealist artist, a short story about a little girl’s frigid death and a 1951 novel centered around the Venus de Milo inspired this one release? Ladies, it’s lit – literary, that is.
As for the song, “Heart Attack” kicks off with an intro identical to Junior Senior‘s “Move Your Body” before swiftly transitioning into a big, bright lovey-dovey affair. While not as sleek and mature as “New,” Chuu’s chipper choon – plus this storyline, tied to a visual rich with artistic references – subverts the usual “cute” concept with a decidedly gay twist.
“The day we first met inside my quiet heart / As if a new world has opened…”
When will t.A.T.u.?

Also, the B-side, “Girl’s Talk” – Chuu’s sleek, pulsating collaboration with her crush Yves – is even better than “Heart Attack.”
“When four girls who denied the garden of Eden gathers, the party begins.”
Let the sinner’s soirée commence.
