So save it, get gone, shut up / ‘Cause if you think I care about you now / Well, boy, I don’t give a fuck.
Dua Lipa, The Pop Star Who Could Be The One, is kicking off 2018 with the only thing that’s better than one Dua Lipa: two.
The stylish music video for the MNEK co-penned “IDGAF” – one of the tracks featured on last year’s Dua Lipa, and her seventh (!) single release from the record – is essentially an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” conceptual continuation from “New Rules”: the whole group therapy choreography thing seems to be working in order to exorcise the fucc bois from her life, so why stop dancing now?
It’s also an ode to the deliciously trendy new teen snack, Tide Pods. And also LOOΠΔ Choerry‘s “Love Cherry Motion” music video. And maybe also the season finale of Season 2 of Maria Bamford‘s Lady Dynamite.
While “IDGAF” doesn’t quite have the same meme-able rule-filled countdown that “New Rules” did to go viral, it still ought to keep the Dua momentum going strong into the New Year as she hunkers down and gets to work on #DL2 in the middle of paradise.
She also remains The One to Watch, and deserves to conquer the world this year. In Dua We Trust.
“IDGAF” was released on January 12. (iTunes)
