The Legendary Miss Britney Spears is officially the face, bod-eh and Holy Spearit of the new Kenzo campaign.
Four months after being tortured with a mysterious #secretproject post on Instagram, we finally know why Brit Brit was posing with renowned German photographer and film director Peter Lindbergh: B-Girl is the It Girl for Kenzo’s Collection Memento No2, as revealed on Tuesday (March 20).
The collection “focuses heavily on denim,” and was inspired by the 1986 Paris runway debut of Kenzo Jeans. The theme is “Icons” – and so, the brand smartly invested in a Living Legend to carry the iconic torch.
Fittingly, the collection is full of REFERENCES to Britney’s own past: from the copious amount of denim (her denim-on-denim ensemble from the 2001 American Music Awards red carpet is still generating nostalgia thinkpieces to this day) to a touch of tiger style – one of her favorite animals, as you’ll no doubt recall from her rebellion-snippet.mp3 official website circa 2006. And that strut through the slick city streets? Consider it the “Outrageous” video remixed, reimagined and still iconic.
If the Piece Of Me: This Is The Last Time I Swear Y’All Summer Tour hasn’t thoroughly depleted your remaining funds, this high fashion collection will now ensure that every last cent is gone. (I, at the very least, want an overpriced hat.)
It’s also a smart and chic move on Britney’s team’s part: she’s been twirling in her house for the past year doing runway shows for free. It’s about damn time she appeared in a proper high fashion campaign – you know, that isn’t Candies for Kohl’s. She looks great! Her derriere should be in all of the magazines! Bring on Versaceney F/W 2019.
