“Hot when you drip / Give me just a sip…”
I’m starting to get the sneaking suspicion that Shygirl isn’t all that shy. She seems pretty unabashedly horny to me, actually – relatable queen! – and we’re all better off for it.
After sadly being forced to cancel her Tinashe co-headlining tour due to a respiratory condition, the 30-year-old Nymph musician returned on Tuesday (November 14) with an until-now unreleased standout from her live shows for over a year now, “Thicc,” featuring the vocals of Irish singer-songwriter and Mura Masa and Charli XCX collaborator Cosha.
The club-ready, nearly 4-minute track – in the year 2023, we’re spoiled! – supplies an instant ’90s rave energy, full of lusty hooks about drips and licks (“Thick, juicy, am I“) and soaring vocals from Cosha, recalling dance floor-commanding divas from yesteryear.
“Hi bbz. ‘thicc’ is finally out everywhere! Made around the same time as some of the Nymph tracks but I decided to hold this one back. If you’ve been at any of my shows this year you’ll recognise this one! Loved all the energy you’ve given me! This is just a taste of club shy 💞,” she wrote in her newsletter to fans, adding: “I’ll be back touring this Winter, so thankful for everyone’s lovely messages of support while I’ve been recovering! Can’t wait to give you guys the show you deserve.”
We’re lucky that “Thicc” is finally seeing the streaming light of day, as it’s an instant addiction from the very first spin. Thick, juicy, yummy!
