Dannii Minogue, Queen of Clubs™ and, quite surreally, my official Kylie Tour Buddy™ (you’ll have to listen to the latest podcast episodes for a deeper dive into what’s transpired between me and the Sisters Minogue over the past month), is providing yet another opportunity to put the needle on it.
The holy scripture itself, Neon Nights, is having quite the mighty fine moment in recent years: not only did Disco D deliver the gorgeous 20th anniversary edition of her 2003 opus two years ago (we chatted about it!), but she’s just gone and done a Record Store Day exclusive for this year, called Neon Nights Remixed.
The special release features a handful of remixes and rarities from Neon Night 20, pressed on vinyl for the first time.
Perhaps most excitingly of all, the set includes a gorgeous new 2025 ‘Ree’wurk’ of “Put the Needle on It” by Korpi & Blackcell, the very same Swedish duo responsible for producing the 2002 smash in the first place. It’s actually a stunning reinterpretation (no surprise there), kicking off on a dreamy, synth-y, almost nostalgic note before we get those hands nice and dirty once more with some hard-edged beats.
The all-killer collection also includes her Thriller Jill-produced almighty anxiety anthem (“Nervous,” a No. 1 hit in this household), and remixes of deep cuts (“For the Record”!), bonus tracks (“Come & Get It”!), scrapped tracks (“Blame It on the Music”!) and singles, all mixed and mashed by Roger Sanchez, Sebastian Krieg, Initial Talk, and Luke Mornay, among others.
Before I could even begin to wonder if Neon Nights Remixed would show up on streaming, to my great and unexpected surprise, the collection is now available to stream on the loop as of today (Friday, April 25).
I already secured my copy on Record Store Day. Does that mean I own about 47 different versions and variations of the same album at this point? Hey! So what. It’s still not enough.
The very last copies of Neon Nights Remixed will be available from the Dannii official store starting at 9 a.m. BST (that’s 4 a.m. ET) on Saturday, April 26, and it ships worldwide. If you want it, you got to come and get it yourself.
