Ayumi Hamasaki's First 6 Albums Are Coming to Vinyl for the First Time Ever

Ayu ready?

I am. My wallet? Not so much. But isn’t this exactly what a 401K is meant for, anyway?

Ayumi Hamasaki, the Empress of J-Pop™, is releasing her first six studio albums on vinyl for the very first time. Finally.

From 1999’s A Song for xx to 2004’s My Story, all six studio albums are now available for pre-order, plus a 7″ color vinyl of her latest single “mimosa,” which was used as the theme of Second to Last Love and her first Billboard Japan Hot 100-charting hit since 2016.

The release is part of Record Store Day 2025 in Japan.

Per the official description:

Ayumi Hamasaki’s six classic albums and her 2025 single ‘mimosa’ are all being released on vinyl! Since its release in April, her latest album, ‘mimosa,’ has been a long-running hit across generations, and now available on 7-inch colored vinyl. Additionally, six of her early albums, including her million-selling masterpieces, which gained popularity when their cover art was featured in the ‘mimosa’ music video, are also being released on vinyl! This is the entry title for ‘Record Day 2025 Day 2’ on December 6th.

If you missed it, the “mimosa” music video finds the J-Pop icon pensively strolling through a Museum of Ayu and reflecting on her past as her iconic album covers get brought to life, AI style. (I know, I know…)

This is huge news for Team Ayu – and also for me, personally, after having splurged on a massive eBay lot of basically every single she’s officially released on vinyl. I dreamed a dream, and it came true.

Between the trance remix albums getting reissued on streaming, and now the classics on vinyl? Yeah, we’re eating good.
