2023 is officially kicking off with a bang(erz): Miley Cyrus is making her highly anticipated return, and she’s brought us “Flowers.”
It’s been over two years since the Disney pop princess-turned-rock goddess let loose her rebel yell in the form of the mighty Plastic Hearts, which gave us one of the year’s best pop singles, “Midnight Sky.”
In the middle of entertaining the inebriated masses on her NBC New Year’s Eve special, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party – and just as she hit the stage to perform “Stars Are Blind” (!) with Sia and Paris Hilton herself (!), The Artist Formerly Known As Hannah Montana unveiled the first teaser for her upcoming single “Flowers,” due out on January 13. (And yes, that is her ex Liam Hemsworth‘s birthday. Ahem.)
“I can love me better baby,” she declares in the tiniest of teases of the track, along with a fierce few seconds of her strutting her stuff (bangerz!) on the street.
As the clock struck midnight, a second teaser arrived: “Yeah, I can love me better than you can,” she’s heard crooning while stripping off on the grass in between sprinklers.

With posters popping up around the world teasing even more lyrics (“I can take myself dancing, I can buy myself flowers“), a very Blondie/early Madonna look, and a brand new countdown on her official website, Miley’s next major moment is rapidly approaching, and already sounds defiant as ever.
“Astute fans will notice a new countdown has launched and are heavily encouraged to continue to follow mileycryus.com for further announcements this week,” a press release teases.
