Debbie Gibson Just Released An Album. In Japan. Of J-Pop Covers.

In Pop World, some things are too good to be true. Luckily, this one happens to be just plain true.

Debbie Gibson, singer of “Foolish Beat” and “Shake Your Love,” just unleashed a new record on November 3, entitled Ms. Vocalist.

Didn’t hear about it? Maybe that’s because it’s only available in Japan. And because it’s an album of ‘smash hit’ J-Pop covers, along with a Japanese cover of her 1989 classic, “Lost In Your Eyes.” Don’t worry, there are samples. (LISTEN)

NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE THINKING: “LOLOLOLOL.”

But don’t you dare shout “flop” yet: The first single from the Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus actress’ latest album, “I Love You,” just reached #1…on the International Cable Radio Charts. (Not to be confused with the actual Japanese music chart Oricon, on which she is nowhere to be found.)

And, look–it’s even got a video! (WATCH)

Doesn’t all this seem eerily similar to something 30 Rock‘s Jenna would do? Just saying.

And now you know what to get me for Hanukkah.
