“I Bet,” Ciara‘s latest single, is a very personal, very thinly veiled kiss-off dedicated to her ex, Future. (In case you forgot, it’s the one that sounds like Usher‘s “U Got It Bad.”)
And now, it has a video.
The plot is fairly straightforward: You take a ballerina, break her heart a million ways and then show her the video to “Ride.” The result toes the line (literally) between sexy and solemn, offering an impressive display of both CiCi’s lady lumps and hurt feelings against a plain backdrop.
As she does in all of her videos, Ciara looks undeniably fierce while working that flowing garb, serving emotional hair flips aplenty and crumbling on the floor while wearing that wedding dress borrowed from the set of Britney‘s “Hold It Against Me.”
And because she’s such an incredibly talented dancer, she knows how to captivatingly express all those emotions like a pro in even the most minimal of settings.
Now that the dunce is gone, let’s hope Ciara keeps the fierce attitude (and maybe also dumps the decade-old sound) on the next go-around. Onward and upward!
