Better late than never, eh?
Behold, the video premiere for “XXXO,” the lead single off of M.I.A.‘s noisy-yet-fairly-underrated third studio album, /\/\/\Y/\.
The video is basically the perfect representation of the new album’s aesthetic, complete with gobs of loud, tacky clip art and YouTube status bars. It also appears the video’s been run twice through the Glitterizer.
Was anyone else nervous that she’d thrown in a random, traumatizing clip of the genocide in Sudan or redheads getting shot in the face halfway through? Because I was bracing for impact.
Don’t worry though–there’s just a lot of cute swans. Lolz.
