Told from the leading lady’s point of view (there’s always a second half of the story, isn’t there?), the forlorn sequel to the massively successful original shifts its focus away from Em’s violently angry rapping and onto RiRi’s heavy-hearted crooning, and the results are nothing short of devastating: “So maybe I’m a masochist / I try to run, but I don’t wanna ever leave / ‘Til the walls are goin’ up / In smoke with all our memories,” the singer cries out during the bridge.
If you’ve been keeping tally, that’s three incredible songs so far from Rihanna’s upcoming studio album, LOUD: “Only Girl (In The World),” “What’s My Name?” and now, “Love The Way You Lie (Pt. 2).” Expect that tally to keep rising.
