Cocknbullkid on backing vocals–just one of the many cool kids Roberts has been working with for her upcoming album, along with Metronomy and Dragonette.
“Sometimes life just makes it hard for me to breathe,” Nicola warbles time and time again above a tripping, twinkling hip-pop beat and trance-lite synthesizers. The song kinda-sorta fits snugly in between offerings from other UK indie chanteuses including Alright, Still-era Lily Allen and UK dubstep princess Katy B, resulting in one of the freshest, illest tracks I’ve heard all year.
And now, a thought: Barring Diana Ross, Beyonce and Rachel Stevens, does Nicola Roberts already command one of the best solo career of a girl group member…ever?
