Kanadian Krooner Kay is back with a brand new beat!
The hip-pop songstress, who first caught our attention back in April of ’11 with infectious cuts like “My Name Is Kay” and the Doctor Rosen Rosen-produced “M.A.J.O.R.”, has just premiered “Diddy Dum,” a funky fresh track off of her newly released My Name Is Kay EP in Canada.
“How many times have you heard this beat?” Kay taunts. To be fair, I can’t say I really have: Accordions! Marching bands! 808s! It’s like watching a drum line stomp their way through a circus. “4 to the 3 to the 2 to the 1, I can be as sweet as a cinnamon bun,” she counts down.
Think a much less affected Karmin meets Robyn meets Dev, with a heaping helping of “Hollaback Girl”-style Gwen Stefani. The result? A rowdy, rollickin’ good time. And good luck getting the chorus out of your head…um, ever!
Dum diddy dum, diddy dum, diddy hee!
The My Name Is Kay EP was released on February 28. (iTunes Canada)
