Katharine McPhee, the country’s primary provider of McPheever, is coming back later this year with her debut for Columbia Records.
The album will be her latest studio release since her solid 2007 self-titled debut, 2010’s ‘meh’ Unbroken and, of course, Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You.
And now, here’s a short blurb from the press release that says the thing I just said:
Los Angeles, CA (April 24, 2013) – Katharine McPhee, star of the critically acclaimed NBC series “Smash,” has begun recording her debut album for Columbia Records.
Due out later this year, the album will feature McPhee’s collaborations with some of the industry’s top songwriters, including Linda Perry (Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Pink), Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse, Fergie, Nas), Sia (Rihanna, Beyonce) and Ryan Tedder (Maroon 5, Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Clarkson).
McPhee, a former “American Idol” star, recently returned to the show for a special duet with Tedder on “If I Lose Myself,” OneRepublic’s hit single.
This is all incredibly exciting stuff: That collaborator list is beyond promising, and the Tedder-produced “Touch Me” continues to be off-the-charts incredible over a year later. But really, will any song achieve the greatness that is “Open Toes”?
Let us all bow down at McPhee’s Pheet once more.
PUT ‘EM ON, PUT ‘EM ON, LET’S GO.
