The pop funerals just keep on coming.
After Katy Perry sent her Teenage Dream six feet under in her latest “Roar” teaser, Marina And The Diamonds has just put the final nail in the coffin of her flawless sophomore record, Electra Heart.
Two years to the day that she first premiered “Fear & Loathing” — the official introduction into the era — the “Primadonna” pop princess is now bringing it all to an end with “Electra Heart,” the final chapter.
The long awaited title track (which she teased during the last leg of her Lonely Hearts Club Tour) is a crashing, synth-heavy explosion of stuttering vocals and big dub-y beats. “For forgiveness, you could always pray / That the sickness, it could go away,” Marina almightily declares, as flashes of all of the Electra Heart-era videos flash across the screen, including “Radioactive,” “Primadonna” and “Power & Control.”
In the final second of the clip, she seals the deal: With a quick smudge, the black heart on her cheek is wiped away.
Goodbye, Electra Heart !
