Tick tock, tick tock…
Madonna‘s #SecretProject with Steven Klein (and VICE) is finally here. Well, almost.
After seemingly endless hype over the past year — including cryptic back-and-forth exchanges between Rihanna and Lady Gaga and the acclaimed photographer, trailers and many a fuzzy Instagram tease by Madonna — the much-buzzed about project will finally be revealed on September 24.
The movement now has a website: ARTFORFREEDOM.com, which includes the two previously released trailers and a handy new hashtag: #SECRETPROJECTREVOLUTION. You can also tweet using #ARTFORFREEDOM. Put ’em all together and what do you get? #SECRETPROJECTREVOLUTIONARTFORFREEDOM. It really rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it?
UPDATE: Madonna just uploaded a third trailer for #SECRETPROJECTREVOLUTION…and she’s SINGING! But not in the way you’d want.
It’s a few bars of “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” — until she gets beaten up and thrown behind bars. Rude, and also terrifying.
Some people think it’s a humanitarian movement. Some people think it’s an artsy, political photo book. Others think it’s an extended advertisement for boytoy Brahim‘s new fashion line.
Personally, I just need it all over and done with so that she can head back into the studio with an edgy, upcoming producer and record a moody, introspective 13th studio album that doesn’t involve grills.
Oh, and there’s also a giant billboard hanging in Tokyo right now with Madonna’s face on it for no apparent reason — although many suspect that it’s just the newest location of Hard Candy Fitness. Blurgh!
In the meantime, Team Madge just uploaded her performance of “Vogue” from the MDNA Tour to her official YouTube account to promote the upcoming DVD release, which is a plus. With any luck, “Girl Gone Wild” and “Gang Bang” will soon follow.
Queen of Pop remains Queen of Pop, etc.
