Hide your flop pop tarts, because The Baddest Female is heading to our shores.
2NE1‘s flaming hot rapstress, fashion darling and all around Queen CL is reportedly making her stateside debut in 2015.
According to a report from Star News (via AllKPop), the K-Pop diva is “already finished” recording songs and planning a solo US debut for next spring. Not only that, Justin Bieber‘s manager Scooter Braun is allegedly involved in the crossover.
According to the report, CL caught the eye of Scooter Braun, who is also the manager for Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and her labelmate Psy, with her rapping skills, fashion sense, and English fluency. The two will apparently work together for her U.S. debut. In response to the insider claims, YG Entertainment just confirmed to Ten Asia, “It’s true that CL is releasing a new solo track in the States next spring.
Well, damn: CL ain’t playing around with that kind of management.
As any Japanese or Korean pop enthusiast could tell you, a successful Asia-to-America transition is a very tricky feat to pull off — just ask Utada or BoA. That being said, the pop climate is much different today in America. After all, Psy really did happen. (Granted, his success was built on a novelty dance…but still.)
CL’s already made waves stateside in certain circles for her style, and she’s basically Jeremy Scott‘s best friend. Also, this year was dominated by an Australian female rapper. Who’s to say a South Korean goddess couldn’t take the reigns next year?
There’s no doubt that CL’s got the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to deliver an incredible debut on our shores. The question is: Are we ready for her?
