Natalia Kills Provides A Taste of ‘Trouble’ with “Controversy”

Anyone in the mood for a little…controversy? (Uh huh.)

It’s been a minute since we last heard from brooding bad bitch, Natalia Kills. After dropping razor-sharp cuts like “Wonderland,” “Free,” and “Kill My Boyfriend” along with her debut record Perfectionist back in 2011, the UK-bred vixen has returned–and now, she’s going harder, faster, stronger, controversial-er.

“Controversy” is the very first offering from the Cherrytree chanteuse’s upcoming sophomore record, Trouble, due out in 2013. It’s not the lead single–just a taste of new tunes to come.

Co-produced by Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Alicia Keys), the menacing track finds Natalia sounding off on the worst of the worst of society between aggressive drum beats and jagged synth stabs. “All the girls are friends with Molly/Dilated, X-rated/Pageant princess, puking rainbows,” she monotones.

The track is a fairly radical shift in direction musically for Kills, moving away from the melody-driven pop sheen of her past productions into ferocious electro. “What the fuck you lookin’ at? This ain’t high school, pussy cat,” Kills growls, bringing Peaches to mind instantly–which I love.

The only question is…will you drink the Kool-Aid?

Trouble will be released in 2013.
