“I Adore U”: Adore Delano Gets Vulnerable On Surprisingly Sobering Break-Up Electro Ballad

Our nation’s reigning drag-pop princess is back for more.

After quenching our thirst with her nazzzty hook-up anthem “D T F” a few weeks ago, RuPaul’s Drag Race hog body beauty Adore Delano returned last night with the second serving from her brand new debut LP, Till Death Do Us Party, out today on iTunes.

But unlike “D T F,” “I Adore U” is a sobering slice of break-up angst. And for those worried that the American Idol alum wouldn’t be showing off her powerful chops on her album, you’re in luck: The track showcases a much more vulnerable side of the party princess.

“This is how it ends, never meant to hurt you/I’m a pretty mess and I don’t deserve you,” she achingly croons above murky, trap-pop beats.

It’s a seamless blend between the soulful boy behind the persona and Adore Delano’s rougher edges: “The falling out was easy, but I hate that you don’t need me,” Adore speak-sings along the sparkling chorus, allowing her inner rapstress to let loose — even bringing a little bit of Charli XCX and Brooke Candy to mind.

Even the video’s Memento-like backwards narrative is compelling, as Adore quickly learns that she’s not the only one her man adores. DRAMA.

Beyond being a legitimately great song, “I Adore U” also represents Adore’s very real potential to crossover into the mainstream as a superstar pop act. After all, the album is currently resting at #11 on the iTunes Album Chart — that’s above Sam Smith and Lana Del Rey.

Could Adore truly be America’s Next Top Drag-Pop Star? She’s certainly presenting a strong case.

J’adore, Miss Delano!
