Utada was on CBS’ The Early Show this morning (?!), where she performed “Come Back To Me” and “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence – FYI.” (I’m getting damn tired of typing out that entire title, FYI.)
“Come Back To Me” was a complete nerve fest which was somewhat cute–but mostly cringe-inducing. The composition of the song changed drastically, leading into the second verse during the first and incorporating some ad-libbing along the way…don’t know if it quite worked. Granted, it was 8 AM on one of the largest television channels in America, but I just wish she’d loosen up a bit.
“FYI” help up better than the first, though she does sound out of breath at times. And the credits scrolling by? HOW DARE YOU, CBS.
