Multilingual, endlessly talented and eternally flaw-free K-Pop Queen-turned-international superstar BoA is back with yet another killer offering in time for summer.
The pop princess has consistently supplied sparkling cuts in time for summer for well over a decade now — from 2002’s “Valenti” all the way up to last year’s “Tail Of Hope.”
Just last week, the singer dropped her 39th (!) Japanese single “Masayume Chasing” (or, roughly, “Chasing A True Dream”), which doubles as the opening theme of an anime called Fairy Tale in Japan.
The uptempo synth-pop gem is both a club banger and a super-saccharine J-pop smash (Carly Rae Jepsen-esque, if you will), complete with a surging chorus and some feisty chants. (Hey hey!) There’s even a little rap section toward the end, proving that Nicki and Iggy better watch their wigs.
The accompanying video’s totally cute, too: Kicking off with a sleepy BoA listening to her latest single “Shout It Out” (get dat promo, mama!), the pop princess is soon greeted by some fashion-forward friends, as they head out for a gleeful stroll and — what else? — bust out into a slick choreographed routines all around the town. Gotta love those fist pump moves!
The video is immensely squeaky-clean and smiley (seriously, there is so much smiling happening) — perfect for a summer jam…and a family-friendly anime tie-in, of course.
“Mayasume Chasing” is the latest off of BoA’s upcoming album, which is (amazingly) titled WHO’S BACK?, due out in September. Go BoA, go!
“Masayume Chasing” was released on July 23. (iTunes Japan)
