Madonna Has An Art Attack On The Cover(s) Of ‘Interview Magazine’

…On the cover of a magazine.

Start panicking.

Following the unexpected, deeply #unapologeticleak of her truly incredible anthem “Rebel Heart” (and “Wash All Over Me”) on Black Friday, there’s now even more to L-U-V from the hashtag-happy Queen Of Pop Madonna in this midnight hour. (Also, Happy December!)

Mert Alas, better known as one-half of Mert & Marcus, Madge’s frequent photographic collaborators — has at long last shared the stunning covers for Madge’s much-teased editorial for Interview Magazine‘s ART issue on Instagram. After all, who better to helm such an issue than the leader of the #secretproject #artforfreedom #revolutionoflove #unapologeticbitch movement?

She’s not just giving us one cover either, of course: There seem to be three of them!

And, in a way, these covers (which are amazing, duh) feel like subtle nods to some of her past eras: The gas mask look serves some shades of Re-Invention Tour, the sleek and futuristic blue body suit is a touch of Confessions, and of course, it wouldn’t be MDNA without a tribute to Erotica with that rather uncomfortable looking, boob-busting black corset. She’s breathless! (They’re likely not intentional throwbacks, but hey, who doesn’t love a good reference?)

ART mixed with POP? Fancy that! And the lucky interviewer for the cover story? Mr. David Blaine, who also curated ART FOR FREEDOM last year.

Leaked (“leaked”) music? Magazine covers? The Madge machine’s kicking into gear again, so brace yourselves: SHE IS COMING SOON.

Check out all the covers, as well as a photo from the shoot, down below.

UPDATE: Even more added! The full interview with David Blaine is now out to read as well, during which they discuss isolation, failure, Madonna’s childhood, her early roots in New York City with her artist friends like Keith Haring and new song called “Devil Prays.” She is so endlessly, wonderfully inspiring.

Madonna forever.
