Madonna, Queen of Popโข and Portuguese Soccer Mom, is steadily working on another album.
And aside from flipping the royal bird at her record label for making her attend writing camps with impatient songwriters, she’s having a jolly good time recording new music at her own pace – and even inviting some familiar faces along for the (easy) ride.
One of those faces, it seems, is none other than songwriter and producer Mirwais Ahmadzaรฏ – her longtime collaborator, from Music to American Life to Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Loyal Little Medonsters had a feeling something was up several months ago, when Her Madgesty suddenly starting following the producer on Instagram. Just days ago, Mirwais posted a 15th anniversary American Life #TBT.
And now, it appears that she’s confirming a reunion with the “Impressive Instant” co-writer by singy-singy-singing a little ditty to the sound of something promising in the background.
“No This is NOT my new music ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ But im having fun in the studio in between takes!! ๐๐๐๐ค๐ผ๐ถ. #music #mirwais #magic ๐ฅ,” M-Dolla captioned her impromptu singalong.
That hashtag! #Mirwais! #Magic! It’s all a-happenin’.
This is objectively great news, considering their output together over the years: “Music”? “Paradise (Not For Me)”? “Love Profusion”? “Nobody Knows Me”? “Die Another Day”? “American Life”? “Future Lovers”? “Nothing Fails”? Lesser pop stars would happily sacrifice an appendage to claim even one of these classics as their own.
Plus, considering all this Joanne-ing happening lately in pop, it feels more than fitting for Madonna to team up again nearly two decades later with her “Don’t Tell Me” collaborator. Trust me, I’m not advocating for more country-inspired pop from anyone – but at least Madonna did it perfectly once before.
Keep up the good work, Madge. No need to be creatively distracted by other mediums! Can’t you see we’re waiting for you? Don’t break our hearts…
