This is the video for “Glaciers,” the buzz track from ex-PCD member Kimberly Wyatt‘s new side project, Her Majesty & The Wolves, but let’s cut straight to the chase: This shit is certifiably BANANAS.
Glittery face painting. Cheesy technicolor backgrounds. ‘State-of-the-art’ Photoshop effects. (GRADIENTS! EMBOSS!)
If you were a club kid dropping acid back in 1992, “Glaciers” will probably resonate for you. I imagine this is the kind of stuff that Richie Rich and Amanda Lepore see in their dreams at night (or whenever it is that they sleep).
I mean, HONESTLY. This shit is like a D-grade imitation of the already terrible video for Girls Aloud‘s “Something Kinda Oooh.”
You cannot tell me that while “Glaciers” was being shot, not once did the director come up to Kim and say something like: “Erm, Kim. Amazing job. Really. You’re a visionary. But don’t you think we should just do some leg splits around a ballet bar or something?”
I imagine this is the kind of fuckery you might get when an artist walks into a concept meeting prior to a video shoot and announces, “Yeah, I want it to be weird like Gaga. But I don’t want it to be like Gaga, you know? I just want to wear a silly hat.”
Then again, maybe it’s just too genius for me to understand. Yeah. It’s probably that.
