The Almighty Aloud once declared: “Shut your mouth because your shit might show.”
And that, more or less, is the general sentiment of “Attracting Flies,” the incredibly catchy, incredibly sassy kiss-off cut off of AlunaGeorge‘s upcoming debut LP, Body Music.
Miss Aluna Francis is simply not having it on the latest offering from their upcoming record, delivering sharp-tongued shade above a bouncy beat. “You can go off the rails and you can cry your eyes out, but everything you exhale is attracting flies.” Yikes! Luckily, the bubbly ’80’s electro-pop stomp, complete with a squeaky synth loop, makes the heated duel all the more danceable. “I hear you out, you hear me out/I hear you shout, I’m not stepping out,” Francis argues repeatedly.
After the release of the UK future-R&B-dance duo’s phenomenal singles “You Know You Like It” and “Your Drums, Your Love” back in 2012, the group’s only continuing to gain traction, including the recent chart-topping success (#2!) of their fantastic Disclosure collaboration, “White Noise.”
“Attracting Flies” is probably the duo’s catchiest, most radio-friendly moment to date (apart from “White Noise”), meaning that there’s nowhere left to go but up for AlunaGeorge. Rise up, lotus, rise! This is the beginning.
Body Music will be released in June. (iTunes)
