Daily B: Britney Records “Fabulous” New Song With William Orbit for Album 8

Right now, the world is abuzz (and a-tweet) with the sound of frenzied chatter, praise and shade regarding the massive comeback singles by some of pop’s most prominent princesses — namely Katy Perry (“Roar”) and Lady Gaga (“Applause”). And that’s great, because as a true lover of music once said, there’s room for everyone on our iPods.

But while the other girls are busy crashing gay bars in WeHo and sending cutesy emojis to their BFFs, there’s a certain Living Legend — our very own Pop Princess now Queen of Pop, if you will (REFERENCE) — tucked away in the studio, sippin’ on a Starbucks, scribbling down Spearitual psalms and working on Album 8 — tentatively titled 8RITNEY, or Blackout 2.0: It Gets Urbaner And Also More Spearitual And A Little More Personal (Raw) (We’re Just Having Lots of Lunches Right Now).

And every day, the return of Britney Spears draws closer.

Earlier this evening, Album 8 executive producer will.i.am tweeted a little treat to the Britney Army/Godney Warriors/Britney’s Bitches/Spearitual (I Still) Believers:

See that? After all that anticipating (REFERENCE), a William Orbit-produced Britney track has officially been cut and will soon see the Ray of Light of day. (Also, “Out of this world”? Clearly another REFERENCE. Someone’s doing their homework!)

There’s still no telling exactly when B will drop her lead single from the upcoming album, although rumors are now swirling around a mid-to-late September release — that sweet spot when “…Baby One More Time,” “I’m A Slave 4 U,” “Me Against The Music,” “Gimme More” and “Womanizer” have all dropped in the past.

One thing is certain: It will be a game-changer.

With all the hype and noise surrounding certain pop acts at the moment, it might be easy to forget what truly revolutionary, radio-changing pop music sounds like.

Look no further than this…

Or this.

Or this.

Or this.

Or this.

Or this.

  1. Omg I’m dying in anticipation!!!! And I hope William orbit is the producer of the first single!!! That would be just epic!!!!

Ugh the wait is killing me!!! But I gotta be STRONGER than yesterday (reference) of course ;)

  2. Goduilera, I hate fuckin’ waiting for a new LEGENDTINA tale! Loved Britney & Xtina since day one… but I literally hope xtina’s next projects all the success in the world just so she gets ton of promo for the simple fact it will help you in writing her escapades!

  3. In the words of the ever wise Spearitual one “I hate effing (she used a different word) waiting.” Seriously! Team Britney is such a tease. This is like waiting for Justin to put out an album. (Thank goodness he came to his senses and is releasing TWO albums this year.)

  4. The Hold It Against Me video is Britney’s Sistine Chapel – it’s almost as if Michelangelo had painted the life of Britney isn’t it? That’s where it takes me (reference!)

  5. If i said my heart was beating fast (right now, in anticipation for what’s to come), would you hold it against me?

Also, where is “We’re Just Having Lots of Lunches Right Now” from?!

  6. It’s something will.iam said a couple of times when he started working with britney on album 8 lol
