Kelly Clarkson Sleighs With Already Classic Christmas Song, “Underneath The Tree”
Kelly Clarkson don’t give a fuck ’bout your Halloween.
While y’all compete over who’s dressed up as the best #pitchystripper (spoiler alert: you all lose), the OG American Idol is too busy pouring the eggnog, wrapping presents and getting snuggly in front of the fire with her new man.
Just ahead of the release of her upcoming Christmas album, Wrapped In Red (the Super Deluxe fan bundle includes A KELLY CLARKSON SNOW GLOBE, MIND YOU), the legendary Breakaway powerhouse belter has just premiered a sparkling, already classic original from the collection, “Underneath The Tree.”
Sleigh bells? Check. Angelic choir? Check. A SAXOPHONE SOLO? Check. THOSE VOCALS. It’s really perfect: “You’re here where you should be / Snow is falling as the carolers sing!” Queen Clarkson cries out along the jolly, lovey-dovey tune. Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On Cupid! On, Donder and Justin Guarini!
But where are the flaws? Can you find any? Have you checked underneath the tree? Called Santa, maybe? Still none? Oh, okay.
“Underneath The Tree” is a more-than-worthy companion to the festive offerings by her fellow pop contemporaries, including Britney‘s “My Only Wish (This Year),” Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” — and, of course, Ali Lohan‘s “Lohan Holiday (feat. Lindsay Lohan).”
‘TIS THE SEASON TO BE SLEIGHED.
Wrapped In Red will be released on October 25. (iTunes)
