Quietly, Say Lou Lou are building what will be one of the best records of 2015.
Ever since their debut with “Maybe You” and “Julian,” the Swedish-Aussie twin sister act has been reliably serving up one lush slice of pop after another, from “Everything We Touch” to “Beloved,” which is still one of the best songs of last year.
As Miranda and Elektra continue working on their debut album Lucid Dreaming alongside very promising names like Lindstrøm and Richard X, they were kind enough to #bless us with a (free!) cover out of nowhere: Daft Punk‘s “Instant Crush,” a highlight from Random Access Memories.
And, oh, it’s really something gorgeous: Gliding across atmospheric guitars and punchy drums, the girls transform the robotic original into something much more human. Like their cover of Tame Impala‘s “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” it’s a dream-pop dream (within a dream).
Slay Lou Lou.
“Everything We Touch” was released on May 30. (iTunes)
