‘For You’: Rita Ora Whips Up ‘Fifty Shades’ of Solid Pop With Liam Payne

Rita Ora is showing no signs of slowing down with the pop perfection, this time by teaming up with Bear Payne’s father, Liam Payne, for an uplifting ‘Fifty Shades’ anthem.

Her name is Rita. She’ll be your mistress tonight.

It’s become clear that Miss Ora is boldly carrying forward the torch of pop into the New Year, from “Your Song” to “Lonely Together” to, of course, “Anywhere,” the distant second cousin to Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Run Away With Me.” (And let us never forget “I Will Never Let You Down.”)

Now, she’s bringing the bops to the big screen with her Fifty Shades Freed theme song “For You,” a duet with former One Direction member-turned-solo star, best known as the lover of “Sexy Den A Mutha” chanteuse Cheryl Tweedy Cole Fernandez-Versini Payne: Liam Payne.

I’ll be honest: I have little to say regarding Liam’s contribution, so I’ll keep it brief: please give my love and kisses to Chezza and baby Bear.

I’ve also neither read nor seen the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, so I don’t know whether those particular stans will approve of this pop tune as the theme for their favorite couple’s whip-and-chain-filled BDSM business in the boudoir.

That leaves us with the multi-hyphenate muse herself: Mistress Rita, who effortlessly dominates the majority of this sweeping, uplifting anthem with her more-than-capable crooning across those delicious synthesizers. (If anything, the synths give me a bit of Years & Years. Maybe a touch of Pet Shop Boys?) In any case, she’s only gone and done it again.

That pre-chorus build! That chorus! So refreshingly pop! So earnest! So pure! “Wasn’t looking for love ’til I found you!” That undeniable nod to Emma Bunton‘s Life In Mono track, “I Wasn’t Looking (When I Found Love)”!

At last, the perfect love song to soundtrack the next session with your beloved dom/sub.

“For You” was released on January 5. (iTunes)
