‘Ear Candy’: Marlene & Ji Nilsson Provide a Dreamy, Summery Dance-Pop Treat

Marlene’s latest serving – a collaboration with Ji Nilsson – is pure romance on the dance floor.

As far as I’m concerned, Marlene has never once led us astray.

From 2013’s “Bon Voyage” all the way up to “Next To Me” – objectively one of the best songs of 2017 – the under-the-radar Swedish Dream’s served up sumptuous pop for years.

She doesn’t come ’round that often, but whenever she does, she’s always got a delicious musical treat in tow – or, rather, ear candy.

“Ear Candy” is Marlene’s latest offering, a thumping, romantic collaboration co-penned and co-produced with fellow Swede singer-songwriter Ji Nilsson. (The two also teamed up on a great song called “There” a few months ago. Is this duo becoming an official thing? Not mad if so.)

The House-y track comes at just the right time for the sunny season, playing like the perfect addition to the poolside playlist or a romantic summer night’s soundtrack.

For fans of Marlene’s own “Next To Me” (or anything Marlene for that matter), Annie‘s A&R EP, and similar purveyors of dreamy, four-to-the-floor dance-pop, this treat is an instantly replay-friendly indulgence.

Love it when you sweet talk to me baby, it’s like ear candy…

“Ear Candy” was released on June 29. (iTunes)
