‘favOriTe’: LOOΠΔ Make Their First Move

Loona Favorite

LOOΠΔtics across the LOOΠΔverse: the LOOΠΔlution begins now. Or, well, almost.

If you’ve no clue what all this LOOΠ-y business means, catch up on the backstory behind one of the most exciting girl groups to come out of South Korea in a while.

Nearly two years after the debut of HeeJin and the subsequent rollout of each member and sub-unit, the fully realized 12-member LOOΠΔ unit made its grand debut on Tuesday (August 7)…but don’t call it a debut just yet.

“favOriTe” is the group’s “lead single,” but apparently not their real, actual, honestly-swear-this-is-the-one debut, which is due to arrive later this month.

Regardless, it’s the first time we get to see all twelve girls twirling at the same time, which is no small blessing!

“LOOΠΔ was designed to be at its maximum potential when LOOΠΔ 1/3, LOOΠΔ / ODD EYE CIRCLE, LOOΠΔ / yyxy, and YeoJin combine,” BlockBerry Entertainment declares.

“At its maximum power for the first time, LOOΠΔ’s lead single ‘favOriTe’ declares the signature sound of LOOΠΔ at its complete form.”

Is it my favorite – err, favOriTe – song of the vast LOOΠΔgraphy? Ah. It’s no “New,” nor “Girl Front,” and certainly no “Eclipse,” but the energy and rapidly shape-shifting production is a plus. Is it the most innovative concept? I can’t say I was thrilled to see simple school girl outfits. Is the visual exciting? Not particularly. Some might even call it underwhelming, especially compared to the high concept, symbolism-filled music videos for each and every member that led up to this moment.

But! The dancing is strong, and the thrill of seeing them all together in the same room after two years of anticipation is even stronger. This is just a pre-debut debut, anyway…since two years of hype wasn’t enough.

Fingers crossed for the real, real thing to come. Let’s get it!
