Oh, it’s so good to finally hear from Miss Lana Del Rey again.
As the cooler months approach and the summertime sadness fades away, the gorgeous throwback chanteuse has just provided us with an appropriately chilling new offering: Her haunting take on the classic pop standard, “Blue Velvet.”
Filled with ghostly echoes and soaring strings, the track’s production meshes perfectly with the nostalgic sadness of her debut. And the vocals? From the very first line, it’s nothing but endless shivers. She was born to sing this song (and also to die, from what I’ve been told.)
Lana’s “Blue Velvet” cover is set to be released along with her upcoming H&M collaboration (watch for the full David Lynch-inspired advertisement to premiere at H&M’s official website on September 19.)
It’s also expected to land on the Paradise Edition of Born To Die out in November–a re-release that’s bound to make the album of the year burn even brighter.
I’m obsessed.
Born To Die was released on January 31. (iTunes)
