It’s Billboardney, bitch.
For the first time ever (shockingly), The Legendary Miss Britney Spears graces the cover of tomorrow’s Billboard Magazine, out March 13. And inside, she’s opening up about the proposed artsy fartsy left-lane follow-up to her under-the-radar mixtape Britney Jean….which…isn’t an album quite yet.
…Nor is recording said album her “full priority” at the moment.
But whenever she does put an album together, she’s going to do it “slowly but surely.”
From Billboard:
There’s a lot going on with my kids and schools and, you know, adding new sports and stuff like that. I’m gonna try to do my best to do an amazing album, but it’s not my full priority right now.
Calm, Cool And Collectedney is also in talks with Planet Hollywood to keep the Piece Of Me residency going strong until 2017, which means that record may not materialize any time soon — at least, not any time in the near future.
But hey, there will still be singles!
Right now we’re just concentrating on putting out a few great singles as they come. We’re not really talking seriously about a new album yet. Albums just aren’t as important in the digital age as they used to be. Britney will get to one eventually, but not right now. – Larry Rudolph
Right. Tell that to 1989 and BEYONCÉ, Larry.
And to the fans who refer to these albums as “exceptions” to the rule: What you’re really saying is that Britney couldn’t achieve that kind of success too. I beg to differ. If she really wanted to, she could. The key word being “wanted to” here, of course…that’s a different conversation entirely.
Still, I’m struggling to understand the point of a cover story that proclaims “Eh, not my priority!” Couldn’t that have been accomplished in a tweet?
But hey, there’s still a full story coming tomorrow. And just like Album 9…
