Ridiculously underrated UK songstress Sunday Girl (née Jade Williams) has been quietly pumping out some of the most scrumptiously lush electro-pop tunes for the past two years, including “Four Floors,” “Stop Hey,” and most recently, her shimmering cover of Sunscreem‘s “Love U More.”
Most recently, the singer recorded a cover of The Pixies‘ “Where Is My Mind?” which is now being used in a popular advertising campaign for UK vacation company, Thomson.
Much like Ellie Goulding‘s gorgeous cover of Elton John‘s “Your Song” released in time for Christmas last year, “Where Is My Mind?” finds the usually electro-pop minded songstress delivering a wonderfully stripped-back production, crooning sweetly above a soft piano melody and a lush string section. SO beautiful!
“Where Is My Mind?” has gained substantial buzz over the past few weeks because of its inclusion in the Thomson holiday ads–so much so, in fact, that the song’s just been added to iTunes UK by Island Records (plus a music video to boot!)
With any luck, this will be the song to boost Sunday Girl’s profile enough to get that debut album off the ground in 2012. Lord knows, she deserves it. Fingers crossed!
“Where Is My Mind?” was released on December 16. (iTunes UK)
