Kylie Minogue Say Something Fallon Tonight Show Jimmy

Kylie Minogue Performs ‘Say Something’ Live for the First Time

And in America, of all places.

Kylie Minogue longs for us all to be as one again, and our disco needs her now more than ever.

But! While we wait for that to happen (and a vaccine), she’s happy to pay us all a digital visit in the meantime.

The legendary “Red Blooded Woman (Whitey Mix)” chanteuse returned to American soil – well, virtually – with the debut live performance of her glittering Disco lead single, “Say Something,” on Wednesday (September 16) night’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Yes, that’s right: not only is it the first time she’s crooned the tune live, but she’s doing it for the kids (REFERENCE) in America.

True to the retro, campy styling we’ve seen her serve up thus far this era, Kylie delivered a vintage green screen performance of her sparkling single, providing kaleidoscopic projections like the gay and glittery music video and vocals similar to her gorgeous acoustic take of the track – looking and sounding incredible, as always.

The performance feels like an intergalactic transmission by a loving diva hailing from some far-off land upon hearing Earth’s distress call, or long-lost footage unearthed from the archives of an ancient variety TV show. The producer countdown and smattering of applause at the beginning and end was also an inspired touch. You can also tell Kylie can’t wait to get back out on the road and feel the energy of a live audience again.

Although a little banter with Jimmy would have been lovely (and surely would have happened in person), it’s still really special just to see Kylie’s face on television again – let alone watching her sing a song in America, a tasteless territory that consistently fails to pay her proper respect. In short, we are unworthy.

Cheers to a fabulous live debut by our Mighty Aphrodite…with a second dose of Disco coming up mighty soon, it seems.

Disco arrives on November 6.
