The Daily B

Looks like her family isn't as disgusting as the media places them. I'm not making excuses or saying that this is the absolute truth, but the spokesperson for the family finally came to the media regarding the Dr. Phil showdown:

Spears family rep Lou Taylor told Meredith Vieira on the "Today" show that Dr. Phil actually broached the subject of doing a show about Britney, but that they nixed the idea, only to have Phil try to set up the show anyway. Taylor scorched Phil, saying it was even "inappropriate" for Phil to bring up doing a show, and that the family thought it would be detrimental to Britney.

What's more, Taylor said that the family felt "betrayed" that Phil would issue any kind of statement after meeting with Brit, and that nobody had given him any authority to say anything, much less bellow on and on like he did.

EDIT: My bad, I didn't realize that they contacted him in the first place. They're still assholes as judged. Please proceed.

Sugar Coated Ladies

The new Sugababes video for their single, "Denial," has been released. It features whatever Sugababe members exist at press time, plus stop-motion photography. Additionally, you might see some flashy fashion (which I believe has been stolen from the wardrobe of Róisín Murphy), passing around of hearts, and some on-screen text every twenty seconds to help you sing along to every thirteenth word in the song. It's America's Next Top Model meets any old 90's era Madonna video.

Ah yes, and you can buy their album, Change at Amazon.

If you've been following the increasingly ridiculous teasers and previews for upcoming monster flick, Cloverfield, this may be of interest to you. According to MovieWeb.Com, this supposed action figure of the monster from the movie surfaced recently. Click below to see the gruesome destructor of all that is good in the world:

I think he's a bit cute.

Grab your space helmets, children!

...'cause we're gearing up for an intergalactic, jam fest with the one and only Janet Jackson in a preview clip for her new single, "Feedback." YEEEEE-HAW! Watch as Ms. Jackson-if-ya-nasty dances with evil motorcycle alien-cyborgs, shakes her weave Beyonciliously, freefalls into a waterfall of glitter, and jumps into an illuminious universe of GOO!!!! And that's only the first thirty seconds! The full video is to premiere today. I can barely contain my excitement. I just hope those 1997-era special effects keep hitting as hard as they do in this clip!

I want to know the creative director responsible for this gold mine.

One of My Favorites: Télépopmusik

Slow news day, no?

Well then, I suppose that calls for one of my obligatory favorites posts. Télépopmusik is yet another group you hear on almost every commercial in existance. The band's core has gone through some reshuffling a few times, but the core remains the same for the time being: Fabrice Dumont, 2square, and Antipop, all of whom have their own solo projects to attend to. As a result, the delayed third album is still in production for this year (I pray).

These musicians share a love of all things electronic, and their work proudly speaks for their acheivements in raw, creative music. From "Breathe," their arguably most infamous track, to the awe-inducing, sweeping tracks like "Don't Look Back" and "Stop Running Away" from Angel Milk, Télépopmusik has been at the forefront of my most played albums list every year. Their style is varied; their lyrics equally eclectic. Helped in part due to an ever-shuffling roster of guest vocals per track (Angela McCluskey is a particular stand-out vocalist), the band is cemented in unpredictability; I never know what to expect next from them. I eagerly await their third effort, though I know it will be thoroughly breathtaking once again. Oh yeah, and any band with a dancing panda on the cover is guaranteed the title of "perfection" by my standards. Take that as you will.

By the way, I still can't stop thinking about blinking.

Daily B: In A Tizzy

It's nice to see that the tabloids are so up on their own information. Do they even see the videos that they upload? Entertainment Tonight reports that Britney spoke with a British accent at the hospital. Don't get me wrong, she's out of her mind alright, but she's been doing it for weeks. In all of the paparazzi videos, she's been speaking to the paparazzi with the accent, and asking the gas attendents if she could queue for the loo (I won't lie, that phrase is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G). This ain't anything new, quite unfortunately.

Shakira Live!

Check out Shakira's performance on Jay Leno last night, singing "Despedida," one of her songs from the soundtrack of Love in the Time of Cholera. She's still got it. Though she's fairly subdued in this performance, you can tell that her hips are still far from truthful.

Buy the soundtrack to Love in the Time of Cholera at Amazon.

Must. Stop. Thinking.

I can't stop blinking today. Well, that's not even slightly accurate. I can't stop blinking consciously. It's driving me's been hours of thinking about blinking. I'm not sure how to fix it, but I know that I'm slowly traveling a path of obsessive compulsion and taped eyelids. Help?

Speaking of eyeballs, Celine Dion has a new single that came out just yesterday, called "Eyes On Me." I know the bitch be crazy, but I can't have my pop stars any other way. Either they're absolute space cadets, or I'm simply unentertained. "Eyes On Me" is a seductive, almost sexy song. I can't actually call it sexy because it's Celine, and...well. I just, it's not a visual I'm comfortable with. Tinged with middle-eastern sounds, the song makes you want to belly dance all around the room. And possibly chicken dance. Who let Celine out? Jesus did.

Acid and Ecstacy?

Is that what the song stands for? That's what the video leads me to believe anyway:

DL: Goldfrapp - A&E

Just joshing. I lurve it. Alison looks so pretty amongst the frolicking topiary. I know this isn't what the masses desire, but I like it just fine, thank you. Not every album needs to be full of "Strict Machine." Damn, do I love that song though.

Introducing Adele

Her sound is touted as a mix of Kate Nash, Amy Winehouse, and Etta James, but she's still positively unique in her own right. Adele, a singer from the U.K., is steadily making waves overseas with her soulful throwback music. "Chasing Pavements" is the second single from her upcoming album, 19, due January 28th. Showered in praise for her old-school sound and melodic voice, Adele is constantly referred to as one of those artists to watch for in 2008. Time will tell soon enough. Try her single, "Chasing Pavements" on her official Myspace here!

Don't forget to pre-order Adele's new single Chasing Pavements at Amazon.

Pieces and Pieces

I know you're tired of them, but I think I might have found a new favorite. The DaVinChe remix of Piece Of Me escapes the typical constraints of the slows up the beats rather than energizes. It's a jazzed-up, glamorous hip-hop vibe which makes the song glisten and shine rather than layer upon the already beat-heavy backtrack.

Oh, and as for this one. Well...he's back.

Just in case Soulja Boy wasn't enough, Nicole Kidman's representative confirmed tonight that she too has been makin' babies.

Her rep tells “Extra,” “Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban confirmed today that they are expecting a baby. The couple are thrilled.”

The couple are? What kind of speak is this? Regardless, congratulations to Nicole! Sometimes I forget how much I enjoy her. That's when I like to sit back, pop in my Moulin Rouge, and let the good times roll. OH. But not 'til the end. I can't watch the ending...I always turn it off after they finish singing "Come What May." Call me an old fashioned romantic.
